Q: What's the due date?
A: You must have your digital portfolio finished and submitted correctly by midnight on Sunday, May 12th. In class presentations will be on the days during teacher made exam week. Presentations will be May 13th 2A and May 16th 2B. Q: Will there be checkpoints due? A: Check your Canvas "AP GoPo Civic Engagement Deets" folder (always at the top) for all the dates and checkpoints you will need to meet beginning in December 2023. Q: I have like zero idea of what to do? Where can I get ideas? A: Make sure you read pages 138-144 in the College Board Guidelines for details suggestions, but other great places to look for ideas are DoSomething.org and any of these issues about "Teenagers in The Times". And even more opportunities here at the Changemaker Project. And I LOVE that our local Triangle YMCA makes volunteering easy! Also, keep checking ANNOUNCEMENTS in Canvas, anytime I hear of good ideas, I'll send out messages. Q: How will I be graded? A: This project will count as your final exam grade. This is 20% of your class grade. A rubric will be posted in Canvas under the assignment in Milestone #3. A reflection of your experiences is part of this, so keeping a journal during your work is key! Q: How do I submit my final project? A: Your format should be all online in one digital portfolio using Google Sites for privacy protection. For a high quality submission, you will need a blog of your experiences and reflections, videos of your work, some data about your topic, and anything else you think needs to be a part of your story. The specific instructions for this are found in Milestone #3. Q: Can my project be partisan? A: It absolutely can. If you believe in a political party and their goals and policies passionately, College Board wants you to support efforts for that party. Q: Is writing legislation something we can do? A: A very direct way to make change is to write a bill, and get it in the hands of the local, state, or federal legislatures. Ms. Thrower knows some lawmakers! Read more here for you can begin writing a bill. This is a step most projects SHOULD include. Isn't the point of making change, getting government to help enact this change? |
