SRMHS Bulldogs Do Radical Work Learning (and teaching)...
"Every student can learn. Just not on the same day, or in the same way." - George Evans
Civic Lit Bulldogs ask basic citizenship questions of SRMHS staff and studentsThis project idea was inspired by the old "Jaywalking" segments on Jay Leno, where he asks basic citizenship, geography and history questions of people on the street.
What my class found at our school...they think some students and adults alike might need to brush up on their Civic Lit 101. No worries, that's what Social Studies teachers are here for! Students share experiences with "microaggressions"...This is a bell ringer I use when I teach American History or Psychology. It was inspired by a professional development class educators took some years ago, back when some people weren't afraid to discuss this sort of thing. Click the image to enlarge their answers, very enlightening!

Bulldogs "Get Out the Vote!"All of these voting videos were completed during remote learning during the pandemic year 2020-2021. It cannot be understated how exciting it was for me to finally see some of these kids faces and intrinsic motivation coming through on these video edits to educate and encourage people on the voting process! Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Two favorite AP GoPo students report on radio WUNC about book bans throughout public school libraries!William and Kaiden always made me proud in AP Gov, and I'm so happy they are continuing their activism on local radio. Click here to hear the full report by William!
Students "go out on a meme" to learn government vocab...New Year "More & Less" wishes... |
The Cold War "Cereal" Museum...a class fav!For a little "old skool" tactile learning, kids research the Who, what, why of Cold War events, and create the "cereal" story for the library museum. Better than listening to "We Didn't Start the Fire". Again.
What students want more and less of...Every year, reading these student "resolutions" about what they want more or less of...I'm reminded their world isn't just "student". Click each image to enlarge.
